The Tusk Chair is a solid wood dining chair with a sculpted, mid-century character. Its signature is the curved top rail, which sweeps around the back and tapers into the rear legs like a gently bent horn, offering support at the lower back and shoulders without a full back panel. Below, an upholstered seat sits on slender legs tied together by fine stretchers.
The open back keeps the Tusk light in a room full of chairs, while the padded seat makes it comfortable through long dinners. Specify it in American walnut, white oak, ash or beech with leather, faux leather or fabric upholstery. The Tusk is part of a large family, including the Tusk Chair with Cord Seat, the Tusk Metal Frame Chair and the matching Tusk Stool, so the look can carry from dining room to bar.
Like almost all of our wood seating, the Tusk is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections, made to break in over time and develop the patina of heirloom furniture. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and carries our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each chair comes standard with heavy-duty nail-on nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.
Plan on about 24" per seat at tables. Our restaurant seating layout guide covers aisles and table spacing.
Wood (Wood Option B): North American ash, European beech, American white oak and American walnut, plus ash with light or dark walnut stain, beech with walnut stain and black painted open-pore ash.
