Commercial Arm Chairs for Restaurants and Hotels
An arm chair signals that guests are meant to stay a while, which is why they fill steakhouses, hotel dining rooms, club grill rooms and senior living communities. Designform arm chairs are contract-grade: mortise-and-tenon hardwood or welded steel frames, replaceable seats, and a 3-year structural frame warranty. All products are tested to 400 lbs.
Specifying arm chairs
- Fit to the table. Check arm height against your table apron so chairs tuck in. Every product page lists width, depth, height, seat height and seat size.
- Space per seat. Allow about 24" of table edge per guest, a little more for wide arm chairs.
- Ease of standing. In senior living and healthcare, choose a forward arm that residents can push off from; front casters with rear glides are available on request.
- Upholstery. In-house fabrics and faux leathers or your own COM/COL, most rated 75,000–100,000 double rubs; bleach-cleanable vinyls and moisture-barrier seats are available on request.
Lead times and samples
Custom orders run 14–20 weeks, many can be rushed to 8–10 weeks, and in-stock models ship in 2–3 days through Quick Ship. Minimum order is typically four pieces, and chairs arrive fully assembled. Ask your rep about a loaner sample for a sit test.

Restaurant and Hotel Arm Chairs
Arm chairs make a table feel more generous. They are the usual choice for fine dining, hotel restaurants, private dining rooms, club dining and senior living, where guests stay longer and appreciate something to lean on as they sit and stand. Designform arm chairs are built on the same commercial frames as our side chairs: mortise-and-tenon hardwood or welded steel. Every Designform frame is tested to hold 400 lbs and checked internally against ANSI/BIFMA standards, foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013, and frames carry a 3-year structural warranty (1 year on finish and upholstery).
What to check before you specify
- Arm height and table clearance. If chairs need to tuck under the table, compare the arm height on the product page with the apron height of your table. Our restaurant chair dimensions guide explains how.
- Width. Arm chairs typically run 22–25" wide, so plan on 26–30" of table edge per guest rather than the 24" used for side chairs. See the table seating chart.
- Upholstery. Fully upholstered backs suit lounges and hotel dining; wood backs clean faster in high-turn rooms. Most of our materials are rated 75,000–100,000 double rubs, and COM/COL is welcome.
- Healthcare and senior living. Higher weight ratings, bleach-cleanable vinyls, moisture-barrier seats, and front casters with rear glides are available on request.
