The Smith Upholstered Arm Chair dresses the Smith design up with a fully upholstered seat and back. A cushioned back panel with softly rounded corners is framed by slim metal arms that loop down to the seat, and the solid wood frame stands on tapered, gently splayed legs. Metal comes in black or brushed brass.
The combination of wood legs, metal arms and upholstery gives it a warm, mid-century character with real comfort for long meals. It works as a host chair at the ends of tables, as the main chair in a club dining room, or in a lobby or lounge setting. Pair it with the Smith Upholstered Side Chair and the Smith Upholstered Stool for a coordinated room.
The Smith Upholstered Arm Chair is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections, the way almost all of our wood seating is made. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each chair comes standard with heavy-duty nail-on nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.
For arm chairs, allow about 26–28" per seat and confirm the 28" arm height clears your table apron. Our restaurant seating layout guide explains spacing in detail.
