Smith Stacking Side Chair with Upholstered Seat

The Smith Stacking Side Chair with Upholstered Seat mixes three materials in one clean, mid-century-inspired silhouette. A slender welded steel frame carries an upholstered seat set on a solid wood base, and a curved wood veneer back panel floats above it on two steel uprights. The tufted seat in the photo shows how the cushion softens the look and adds comfort for longer meals.

The frame comes in black or brushed brass, the wood in a range of American and European species and stains, and the seat in leather, faux leather, fabric or your own material. That flexibility makes the Smith easy to tune for a polished hotel restaurant or a relaxed neighborhood bistro, and because it stacks, it is just as practical for banquet and multipurpose rooms.

Built for commercial use

The Smith has a welded steel frame rather than a bolted one, so it stays solid under daily commercial use. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. The chair stacks; ganging hardware may be available depending on the chair. We do not stock stacking carts, but they can be custom made on request. It ships fully assembled from the factory and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment.

Finishes and upholstery

Metal: black or brushed brass metal finish.

Wood (Wood Option B): American walnut, American white oak, North American ash, European beech, beechwood with walnut stain, ashwood with light or dark walnut stain, and black painted ash (open pore).

Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, including distressed and aniline-look colors.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): standard and deluxe faux leathers in neutrals, browns, blues, greens and warm accent colors.

Fabric (Fabric Option A): a broad range of solid, tweed and textured commercial fabrics.

COM: customer's own material is accepted (minimums may apply), and we will provide the yardage.

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
