Stools

Commercial Bar Stools: Sizes, Styles and Specs

Bar stools take more abuse than any other seat in hospitality: dragged across floors, leaned back on, and never lifted. Designform builds them on welded steel and solid hardwood frames with welded foot rails, replaceable seats and a 3-year structural frame warranty. Every product is tested to 400 lbs, with specific weight testing available on request.

Bar height or counter height?

  • Bar stools have a seat about 30–31" high for a 40–42" bar.
  • Counter stools sit about 24–26" high for a 34–36" counter.
  • Allow 10–12" between the seat and the underside of the bar, and roughly 24–30" from stool center to stool center.

Frame, seat and options

Choose metal stools for breweries, fast casual and patios, wood stools for steakhouses and clubs, or upholstered stools for cocktail lounges and hotel bars. Backless stools tuck under the rail where aisles are tight. Swivel seats are standard on some models and customizable on many: most backless swivel stools turn 360°, and swivel stools with backs use an auto-return mechanism. Bolt-down bases are available for fixed installations such as casinos, food courts and airport concourses.

Finishes, lead times and Quick Ship

Custom wood stains, powder coat colors, in-house fabrics and faux leathers, or your own COM/COL. Most upholstery is rated 75,000–100,000 double rubs and meets CAL TB 117-2013. In-stock stools from Quick Ship ship in 2–3 days to projects worldwide; custom orders run 14–20 weeks, with many rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically four pieces.

Where our stools are used
