Maxwell Stool

The Maxwell Stool carries the tailored look of our Maxwell Chair to bar and counter height. A solid wood frame supports a fully upholstered seat and a softly curved, upholstered back, while slender tapered legs finish in brushed brass ferrules. Brushed brass stretchers and a brass footrest run between the legs, giving the stool a refined, polished detail right where guests rest their feet.

Covered in a soft cream fabric, as shown, it feels light and modern; in a deep leather it takes on a classic steakhouse character. The metal accents are also offered in black. Made from the best-quality hardwoods and fine upholstery, the Maxwell is designed to break in over time and develop the patina of heirloom furniture. Pair it with the Maxwell Chair to tie the dining room and bar together.

Built for commercial use

The Maxwell Stool is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and the foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and is covered by our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each stool comes standard with heavy-duty nail-on nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option B): American walnut, American white oak, North American ash, European beech, black painted ash (open pore), beechwood with walnut stain, and ashwood with light or dark walnut stain.

Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, including distressed finishes.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): standard and deluxe faux leathers in a broad palette of neutrals, blues, greens and warm tones.

Fabric (Fabric Option A): a large selection of commercial fabrics and tweeds, many rated 72,000 to 130,000 double rubs.

Metal accents: brushed brass or black.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample stools are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
