The Gage Stool with Upholstered Seat adds comfort to one of our lightest-looking backless stools. A thin upholstered cushion sits on the contoured wood veneer seat, leaving a crisp edge of wood visible underneath, and the slender steel rod frame drops to sled-style runners with a single footrest bar. The layered seat gives the minimalist form a more finished, tailored look.
The cushion makes it a better fit for full-service bars and high-top dining where guests stay a while, while the compact, backless frame still tucks fully under the top. Choose stainless steel or powder coated steel for the frame and mix wood and upholstery colors to suit the room. It comes in bar and counter heights.
The steel frame is welded, not bolted, so it stays tight and quiet through years of bar service. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards. The foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and is backed by our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each stool comes standard with heavy-duty nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.

With a compact 14" depth, the Gage tucks neatly under the top. Use the bar version with 40–42" bar tops and the counter version with 34–36" counters, and plan about 24" per stool. See our bar vs. counter stool height guide and bar stool spacing guide.
Wood (Wood Option D): American ash, black painted ash, American white oak and American walnut.
Metal (Metal Option B): matte black, matte white, matte warm gray, matte silver gray, matte dark gray (sand finish), dark gray, matte orange and army green powder coats. The frame is also available in stainless steel.
Upholstery: Leather Option A (a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers), Faux Leather Option B (standard and deluxe faux leathers), Fabric Option A (commercial fabrics, tweeds and textures in many colors), or COM (minimums may apply). Send us your COM selection and we will give you the yardage.
For commercial use we recommend upholstery rated 75,000–100,000 double rubs. See our upholstery double rubs guide for more.
