Mateo Stool

The Mateo Stool is a minimalist bar and counter stool built on a slim steel frame with a fully upholstered seat. The frame is drawn in thin, square-section lines: straight legs, a low rectangular back rail that rises just above the seat, and a perimeter stretcher that doubles as a footrest. Set on top, the thick upholstered seat reads almost like a cushion block, soft and generous against the crisp metal outline.

That contrast is what makes the Mateo so versatile. In black steel with a pale leather or fabric it feels gallery-modern; with a warm faux leather and a premium metal finish it shifts toward a relaxed lounge look. The low back offers a touch of support while keeping sightlines open across the bar, and the compact footprint helps on tight counters and kitchen-style dining bars.

Built for commercial use

Our metal products are welded, not bolted. The Mateo is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and is covered by our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each stool comes standard with heavy-duty nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.

Finishes and upholstery

Frame (Metal Option A): our Color Finish Series in matte and gloss colors, the Metal Finish Series including matte gunmetal and brushed galvanized, and Premium Finishes such as dark bronze, rust patina, brushed copper and antique brass.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option A): standard and deluxe faux leathers, including vintage and pebbled textures.

Leather (Leather Option B): pebbled black, copper, pebbled lead, pebbled battleship, ash grey and vintage umber brown.

Fabric (Fabric Option B): velvets plus Fighter and Medley performance fabrics rated 100,000 to 130,000 double rubs.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample stools are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
