The Manhattan Dining Chair is a sculptural upholstered arm chair built around a continuous horseshoe curve. The upholstered back wraps around the sitter and runs forward to form the arms at the same height, so the top of the chair reads as one smooth band. Below, flat steel side frames drop to the floor in a sled-like shape, giving the chair a strong, architectural silhouette that looks as good from behind as from the front.
A 19.5" x 19" seat and enclosing back make it a comfortable chair for long dinners. The base comes in brushed stainless steel, brushed brass, brushed black stainless or powder-coated steel, and it coordinates with the Manhattan Stool at the bar. Upholster it in leather, faux leather or fabric.
The steel frame is welded, not bolted. The Manhattan Dining Chair is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each chair comes standard with heavy-duty nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.
As an arm chair, plan about 26" per seat, and note that the 29.25" arm height is close to standard table height, so check clearance under your tables. Our restaurant seating layout guide covers spacing.
Metal (Metal Option B): powder coats in matte white, matte warm gray, matte silver gray, matte orange, matte dark gray (sand finish), matte black, dark gray and army green. The frame is also offered in brushed stainless steel, brushed brass or brushed black stainless.
Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, from onyx, ivory and chestnut to cognac, espresso and hunter green, plus a distressed series in tones like whiskey, bourbon and rust.
Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): standard and deluxe faux leathers in a broad palette of neutrals, browns, greens and blues, including vintage, pebbled and glazed finishes.
Fabric (Fabric Option A): a large library of commercial fabrics and tweeds, many rated from 72,000 to 130,000 double rubs, in grays, browns, blues, greens, reds and golds.
For commercial use we recommend specifying upholstery rated 75,000–100,000 double rubs. COM and COL are accepted (minimums may apply), and we will provide the yardage. Our upholstery double rubs guide explains the ratings.
