Don Chair with Wood Base

The Don Chair with Wood Base pairs the Don's molded, fully upholstered shell with four solid wood legs. The shell curves from a rounded back into wide, wraparound arms, and the tapered wood legs below give the chair a warmer, more crafted character than its metal-based sibling. It is a soft, organic form with a touch of mid-century polish.

A 19.5" x 20" seat and 24.75" arm height make the Don comfortable for long dinners, meetings or lounging, and the enveloping shell gives guests a sense of being held. Use it as a dining arm chair, a host chair in a private dining room or a lounge seat in a lobby. It belongs to our Alpine Lodge and Lobby & Lounge collections, and the Don Chair with Metal Base offers the same shell on polished stainless steel legs.

Built for commercial use

The Don's solid wood base uses mortise-and-tenon joinery with very few bolted connections. The chair is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option B): North American ash, European beech, black painted ash (open pore), beechwood with walnut stain, ashwood with light or dark walnut stain, American white oak and American walnut.

Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, from clean neutrals such as onyx, ivory and pewter to cognac, toffee, hunter green and a family of distressed finishes like whiskey, bourbon and hickory.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): standard and deluxe faux leathers in a broad palette, from black, white, tan and grays to vintage greens, caramel, chestnut, rich blues and dusty earth tones.

Fabric (Fabric Option A): an extensive library of commercial fabrics and tweeds in grays, browns, blues, greens, reds and brighter accent colors, with many selections rated from 72,000 to 130,000 double rubs.

COM: customer's own material is accepted (minimums may apply).

For commercial seating we recommend specifying upholstery rated 75,000–100,000 double rubs; our upholstery double rubs guide explains why. COM and COL are welcome, and we will give you the yardage required.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
