The Holden Arm Chair is a cantilever chair in the classic modernist tradition: a continuous chrome plated steel tube sweeps from the floor up into the seat and back, with no rear legs at all. The seat and back are solid wood frames filled with woven cane, and the arms are topped with wood rests that match the frames. The result is light, springy and unmistakably mid-century.
The gleam of chrome against warm wood and natural cane makes the Holden feel at home in bistros, cafes and modern dining rooms. It pairs with the armless Holden Chair for mixing arm and side seating around the same tables.
The chrome plated steel frame is welded, not bolted, and the cane panels are set into solid wood frames for durability. The Holden is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, ships fully assembled from the factory, and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish warranty from shipment.
For arm chairs, plan on about 26–28" per seat at the table and confirm the 25" arm height clears your table apron. See our restaurant seating layout guide.
Wood (Wood Option A): American walnut, oak, European beech, teak (unfinished or oiled) and ash in natural, antiqued, chestnut brown, brushed antique cherry and medium brown stains, for the seat and back frames.
Frame: chrome plated steel.
