Rhodes Chair

The Rhodes Chair is an upholstered dining arm chair framed in solid wood. Its seat and back are fully upholstered and set inside an open wood frame, with flat, squared arms that run straight back from the front legs to the rear posts. The open panels below each arm keep the generous chair from feeling heavy, and the clean, rectilinear lines give it a tailored, quietly upscale look.

Shown in a light, warm wood with a cream upholstered body, the Rhodes is a comfortable choice for long dinners in steakhouses, private dining rooms and hotel restaurants. Choose from American and European hardwoods and stains, and upholster it in leather, faux leather, fabric or your own material.

Built for commercial use

The Rhodes has a solid wood frame built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment.

Because the Rhodes is a wide arm chair, allow about 28" per seat at tables. With a 27" arm height, check that your table apron clears the arms if you want the chairs to slide under. Our restaurant seating layout guide has more spacing tips.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option B): American walnut, American white oak, North American ash, European beech, black painted ash (open pore), beechwood with walnut stain, and ashwood with light or dark walnut stain.

Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, including distressed and richly colored hides.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): a wide range of standard and deluxe faux leathers in neutrals, browns, blues, greens and glazed finishes.

Fabric (Fabric Option A): a broad selection of commercial fabrics, tweeds and performance weaves, many rated from 72,000 to 130,000 double rubs.

COM: customer's own material is accepted (minimums apply).

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
