Yardbird Upholstered Chair

The Yardbird Upholstered Chair keeps the industrial A-frame stance of the Yardbird family and adds a padded seat and back. The welded steel frame has outward-angled legs braced by flat steel stretchers, and the upholstered back panel floats on two slim steel uprights above a cushioned seat. The result is the same compact, graphic chair with more comfort for longer stays.

Shown with a black frame and soft gray fabric, it works in hotel restaurants, lobby cafes, corporate dining and club rooms where a slightly softer look is wanted. Specify the upholstery in leather, faux leather, fabric or COM over any of our matte powder coat colors. It coordinates with the wood-seat Yardbird Chair and the Yardbird Stool, and it is part of our Lobby & Lounge Collection.

Built for commercial use

The frame is welded steel, not bolted. The chair is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment.

Finishes and upholstery

Metal (Metal Option B): matte white, matte warm gray, matte silver gray, matte orange, matte dark gray (sand finish), matte black, dark gray and army green.

Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, from ivories and grays to cognacs, tobaccos and distressed finishes.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): a wide range of standard and deluxe faux leathers in neutrals, browns, blues, greens and warm accent colors.

Fabric (Fabric Option A): a broad library of commercial fabrics and tweeds, many rated from 72,000 to 130,000 double rubs.

For commercial seating we recommend upholstery rated at 75,000–100,000 double rubs. COM is accepted (minimums apply), and we will give you the yardage. Our upholstery double rubs guide explains the ratings.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
