Toby Chair

The Toby Chair is a warm, mid-century-inspired side chair built from solid European beech with an upholstered seat. A broad, curved wood back panel sits on two rear posts that flow into the back legs, while straight tapered legs and side stretchers give the frame a light, honest structure. The upholstered seat adds comfort and a touch of softness against the natural grain of the beech.

Simple and versatile, the Toby suits cafes, bistros, hotel dining and casual restaurants that want the look of classic Scandinavian wood seating. It is available in natural or walnut finish with faux leather or COM seats, and because it is part of our quick ship program, it is a dependable option when a project needs quality wood chairs on a tight timeline.

Built for commercial use

The Toby's beech frame is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections, the way we build almost all of our wood chairs. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and carries our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option E stains): walnut, tobacco, select cherry, rustic oak, natural, maple, mahogany, light cherry and ebony. The chair is available in natural or walnut finish.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option C): a wide selection from the Classic, Jackson and Glaze faux leather series, covering neutrals, earth tones, deep reds, blues and greens.

COM is accepted (minimums apply).

For commercial seating we recommend specifying upholstery rated 75,000–100,000 double rubs. COM and COL are accepted, and we will provide the yardage your fabric or leather supplier needs. See our upholstery double rubs guide for more.

Lead times and ordering

This item is in stock in our quick ship program and ships within 2–3 days of order and payment, nationwide. Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
