Shaw Chair with Upholstered Seat Pad

The Shaw Chair with Upholstered Seat Pad is a modern spin on the Windsor chair. A row of slender spindles fans out beneath a wide, gently curved crest rail with softly flared ends, and the solid wood frame stands on splayed legs tied together with stretchers. An upholstered seat pad adds comfort and a touch of color or texture.

It reads light and airy in a room, which makes it an easy fit for bright cafes, farmhouse-style restaurants and club dining rooms alike. The solid wood frame comes in our range of American and European hardwoods, so the Shaw can go pale and Scandinavian in white oak or ash, or richer and more traditional in walnut.

Built for commercial use

The Shaw is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections, the way almost all of our wood seating is made. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each chair comes standard with heavy-duty nail-on nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option B): American walnut, American white oak, North American ash, European beech, black painted ash (open pore), beechwood with walnut stain, and ashwood with light or dark walnut stain.

Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, including distressed premium hides in rich browns, greens and reds.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): standard and deluxe faux leathers in a broad palette of neutrals, browns, blues and greens.

Fabric (Fabric Option A): a wide selection of commercial fabrics, including tweeds and performance textiles in many colors. COM is also accepted (minimums apply).

For customer-supplied material, we recommend specifying a commercial-grade textile rated at 75,000–100,000 double rubs. We accept COM and COL and will give you the exact yardage. See our upholstery double rubs guide for more.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
