The Bowery Chair is a solid wood dining arm chair with the easy, tailored feel of a classic supper club. A curved, fully upholstered back band wraps around the sitter, and the solid wood arms sweep down in one continuous line into the front legs. The back stays open below the band, so the chair looks light from across the room while still giving guests a supportive, enclosed seat to settle into for a long dinner.
It is built from American walnut, American white oak, North American ash or European beech, and upholstered in leather, faux leather, fabric or your own material. In real leather, the Bowery breaks in over time and develops the rich patina of heirloom furniture. Pair it with the coordinating Bowery Stool, available in bar and counter heights, to carry the same look from the dining room to the bar.
The Bowery is made for the daily wear of busy restaurants and hotels. The solid hardwood frame is joined with mortise-and-tenon construction and very few bolted connections, so it stays tight through years of service. It is tested to 400 lbs and to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. Each chair ships fully assembled from our factory and is covered by a 3-year frame warranty.
Allow about 24" of table edge per guest. See our seating layout guide for spacing and aisle clearances.
Wood (Wood Option B): American walnut, American white oak, North American ash, European beech, beechwood with walnut stain, ashwood with light or dark walnut stain, and black painted ash with an open-pore finish.
Upholstery: Leather Option A (standard, deluxe and premium leathers, including distressed leathers such as Distressed Bourbon, Distressed Hickory and Distressed Whiskey), Faux Leather Option B, Fabric Option A, or COM (customer's own material). The photos above show the chair in several of our premium leathers on walnut and oak frames.
For commercial dining, specify upholstery rated 75,000–100,000 double rubs. We accept COM and COL and will give you the yardage needed for each chair. See our guide to double rubs.
