Flair Chair

The Flair Chair is a light, sculptural side chair that combines a slim steel frame with an upholstered seat and a solid wood seat back. The back is a single curved wood crest rail that sweeps around the sitter like a shallow arc, carried on thin steel uprights, while four straight steel legs hold a round-cornered upholstered seat. The open space between seat and backrest keeps the chair visually airy.

The Flair's floating wood crest gives it a Scandinavian, mid-century character that works in modern restaurants, hotel dining rooms, wine bars and private dining rooms. The wood rail can be specified in teak, oak, ash, European beech or American walnut, and the seat can be upholstered in faux leather, leather, fabric or your own material. It stacks for storage, which is useful in banquet and multipurpose rooms.

Built for commercial use

The Flair's steel frame is welded, not bolted, and the chair ships fully assembled from the factory. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. The chair stacks for compact storage. Ganging hardware may be available depending on the chair. We do not stock stacking carts, but they can be custom made on request. Coverage includes a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each chair comes standard with heavy-duty nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option A): teak (unfinished or oiled), oak, ash in natural, chestnut brown, brushed antique cherry, antiqued and medium brown stained finishes, European beech and American walnut.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option A): a wide range of standard and deluxe faux leathers, including vintage and pebbled finishes.

Leather (Leather Option B): pebbled black, copper, pebbled lead, pebbled battleship, ash grey and vintage umber brown.

Fabric (Fabric Option B): velvets plus Fighter and Medley performance fabrics rated 100,000–130,000 double rubs.

COM: accepted, minimums may apply.

For commercial use, specify fabrics rated at 75,000–100,000 double rubs. COM and COL are accepted, and Designform will provide the yardage. See our upholstery double rubs guide.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
