Martin Chair

The Martin Chair is a classic European beech dining chair with an upholstered seat and a decorative open back. Between the rear posts, four inward-curving arcs meet to frame a diamond-shaped opening, a detail that gives the chair a bit of bistro character without fuss. Below, a straight-legged frame with a full set of stretchers keeps it sturdy and easy to line up along banquettes and four-tops.

The upholstered seat is offered in a broad range of faux leathers or COM, and the beech frame takes a choice of stains from natural and maple to mahogany and ebony. It is a reliable, good-looking workhorse for busy restaurants, cafes and hotel dining rooms. The Martin Chair coordinates with the Martin Stool, so the dining room and bar can share one look.

Built for commercial use

The Martin is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and the foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and is covered by our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each chair comes standard with heavy-duty nail-on nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood stain (Wood Option E): walnut, tobacco, select cherry, rustic oak, natural, maple, mahogany, light cherry and ebony.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option C): the Classic, Jackson and Glaze faux leather lines, offering more than a hundred colors from soft neutrals to deep jewel tones.

For commercial upholstery we recommend specifying 75,000–100,000 double rubs; see our upholstery double rubs guide. COM and COL are accepted (minimums may apply), and we will give you the yardage.
