Shell Club Lounge Chair

The Shell Club Lounge Chair is a low, generous club chair whose rounded back and arms wrap around the sitter in one continuous curve, like a shell. Soft seams run down the back, a thick cushion fills the seat, and the fully upholstered body floats on a solid wood frame with short, angled legs.

It is sized for real lounging, with a wide seat and a low seat height that invite guests to settle in. Upholster it in rich leather for a steakhouse lounge or lodge library, or in velvet for a hotel lobby or cocktail bar. It belongs to both our Alpine Lodge and Steakhouse collections, and it works well in pairs around a cocktail table.

Built for commercial use

The Shell Club is built on a solid wood frame with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each lounge chair comes standard with heavy-duty nail-on nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option A): American walnut, oak, European beech, ash, antiqued ash, teak (unfinished or oiled), and stained ash in chestnut brown, brushed antique cherry and medium brown.

Fabric (Fabric Option B): velvets in colors such as sand, rust, teal, fern green and goldenrod, plus heavy-duty Fighter and Medley textiles.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option A): a wide range of standard and deluxe faux leathers, including vintage and pebbled finishes.

Leather (Leather Option B): pebbled black, copper, pebbled lead, pebbled battleship, ash grey and vintage umber brown.

COM is also accepted (minimums may apply).

For customer-supplied material, we recommend specifying a commercial-grade textile rated at 75,000–100,000 double rubs. We accept COM and COL and will give you the exact yardage. See our upholstery double rubs guide for more.

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request.
