Dowel Lounge Chair

The Dowel Lounge Chair is a low, mid-century style lounge chair with an exposed solid wood frame. Flat wood arm rails extend from front to back on slim, tapered legs, and a loose seat cushion and back cushion sit low inside the frame with open space at the sides. It is relaxed and airy, with the clean, honest lines of classic Scandinavian-inspired lounge seating.

A roomy 25.25" x 21.5" seat at a low 15.5" height invites guests to lean back and settle in, while the broad arms offer a resting spot for a drink or book. Built for commercial use

The Dowel is built on a solid wood frame using mortise-and-tenon joinery with very few bolted connections. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option B): North American ash, European beech, black painted ash (open pore), beechwood with walnut stain, ashwood with light or dark walnut stain, American white oak and American walnut.

Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, from clean neutrals such as onyx, ivory and pewter to cognac, toffee, hunter green and a family of distressed finishes like whiskey, bourbon and hickory.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): standard and deluxe faux leathers in a broad palette, from black, white, tan and grays to vintage greens, caramel, chestnut, rich blues and dusty earth tones.

Fabric (Fabric Option A): an extensive library of commercial fabrics and tweeds in grays, browns, blues, greens, reds and brighter accent colors, with many selections rated from 72,000 to 130,000 double rubs.

COM: customer's own material is accepted (minimums apply).

For commercial seating we recommend specifying upholstery rated 75,000–100,000 double rubs; our upholstery double rubs guide explains why. COM and COL are welcome, and we will give you the yardage required.

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request.
