Bowen Chair

The Bowen Chair is a stackable steel side chair with a slatted solid wood seat and back. Horizontal wood slats span the back between slim steel uprights, the seat is slatted to match, and the frame flows down into continuous sled-style runners for a light, graphic silhouette. The mix of powder-coated steel and natural wood feels relaxed and modern on a patio or in a casual dining room.

Specified with teak, the Bowen can be used outdoors on terraces, rooftops and courtyards, and other wood species work beautifully indoors. Choose a standard or custom powder coat color, from soft blues and greens to classic black and bronze. Pair it with the Bowen Bar Stool to carry the look to the bar.

Built for commercial use

The Bowen Chair has a welded steel frame, not bolted, for strength that lasts. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards. It stacks for storage. Ganging hardware may be available depending on the chair. We do not stock stacking carts, but they can be custom made on request. For outdoor installations, specify the teak wood seat and back; other wood species should be kept indoors. It ships fully assembled from the factory with a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish warranty from shipment. Each chair comes standard with heavy-duty nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.

Finishes and upholstery

Metal (Metal Option A): a wide range of matte and gloss colors from our Color Finish Series, Metal Finish Series options such as matte gunmetal and brushed galvanized, and Premium Finishes including dark bronze, rust patina, brushed copper and antique brass.

Custom powder coat: custom powder coat colors are available.

Wood (Wood Option A): teak (unfinished or oiled), oak, medium brown stained ash, European beech, chestnut brown ash, brushed antique cherry ash, natural ash, antiqued ash and American walnut. Specify teak for outdoor use.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
