The Jonathan Chair is a comfortable, understated dining side chair with a solid wood frame and an upholstered seat and back. The back is a softly padded panel that rises from the seat between slim rear posts, and the four straight, slightly tapered legs are joined by stretchers for a clean, sturdy base.
Its simple, tailored lines make it easy to place in almost any interior, and the full upholstery gives real comfort for long dinners in steakhouses, hotel restaurants, clubs and lodge-style dining rooms. Specify the frame in walnut, white oak, ash or beech finishes and upholster it in leather, faux leather, fabric or COM. It is part of our Steakhouse and Alpine Lodge Collections and coordinates with the Jonathan Stool.
The solid wood frame is joined with mortise-and-tenon construction and very few bolted connections, so it stays tight through years of daily service. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and the foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and is backed by a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment.
Plan on about 24" per seat at dining tables and leave clear aisles behind chair backs for servers. Our restaurant seating layout guide walks through spacing and table counts.
Wood (Wood Option B): North American ash, European beech, black painted ash (open pore), beechwood with walnut stain, ashwood with light walnut stain, ashwood with dark walnut stain, American white oak and American walnut.
Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, from classic neutrals and rich browns to distressed finishes and saturated colors.
Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): an extensive range of standard and deluxe faux leathers, from black, white and grays to warm browns, greens, blues and glazed finishes.
Fabric (Fabric Option A): a wide selection of woven fabrics and tweeds, with many performance options rated from 72,000 to 130,000 double rubs.
COM/COL: customer's own material or leather is accepted (minimums may apply), and we will provide the yardage.
For commercial seating, we recommend specifying upholstery rated 75,000 to 100,000 double rubs. Our upholstery double rubs guide explains what to look for.
