Mercado Chair

The Mercado Chair is a European beech ladder-back dining chair with an upholstered seat. Four gently curved horizontal slats climb the tall back between turned rear posts, and the front legs and stretchers are turned as well, giving the chair a handcrafted, old-world character. It recalls the rustic chairs of a country inn or a Mediterranean market cafe, which is exactly where it feels most at home.

The beech frame takes a choice of nine stains, from a natural or rustic oak look to mahogany and ebony, and the seat is upholstered in faux leather or COM for everyday comfort. A light natural frame with a dark seat, as shown, feels fresh and relaxed, while deeper stains lean traditional. The Mercado is a new addition to our line and is in stock in our quick ship program.

Built for commercial use

The Mercado is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and the foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and is covered by our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood stain (Wood Option E): walnut, tobacco, select cherry, rustic oak, natural, maple, mahogany, light cherry and ebony.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option C): the Classic, Jackson and Glaze faux leather lines, offering more than a hundred colors.

For commercial upholstery we recommend specifying 75,000–100,000 double rubs; see our upholstery double rubs guide. COM and COL are accepted (minimums apply), and we will give you the yardage.

This item is in stock in our quick ship program and ships within 2–3 days of order and payment, nationwide. Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
