Nells Chair with Upholstered Seat

The Nells Chair with Upholstered Seat is a clean, school-house-inspired side chair that pairs a slim steel frame with a softly curved wood veneer seat back and a padded upholstered seat. Four straight tubular legs and simple side stretchers give it a light, graphic profile, while the broad, gently shaped back panel brings the warmth of natural wood to eye level.

The upholstered seat adds comfort for longer meals and a place to introduce color or texture, from cognac-toned faux leather to pebbled leather, velvet or performance fabric. With a powder coat frame that can be matched to your palette and a choice of wood veneers for the back, the Nells works equally well in a bright cafe, a hotel restaurant or a casual dining room. It coordinates with the Nells Stool for bar and counter seating in the same space.

Built for commercial use

The Nells frame is welded steel rather than bolted, so it stays rigid through years of daily service. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. Every chair ships fully assembled from the factory and is covered by our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each chair comes standard with heavy-duty nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.

Finishes and upholstery

Metal (Metal Option A or custom powder coat): a wide range of Color Finish Series powder coats, Metal Finish Series options such as matte gunmetal and brushed galvanized, and Premium Finishes including dark bronze, rust patina, brushed copper and antique brass. Custom powder coat colors are also available.

Seat back veneer (Wood Option C): white oak, walnut, red oak, oak, black oak, antiqued willow, antiqued rubber and antiqued maple.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option A): standard and deluxe faux leathers, including vintage, pebbled and solid tones.

Leather (Leather Option B): pebbled black, copper, pebbled lead, pebbled battleship, ash grey and vintage umber brown.

Fabric (Fabric Option B): velvets plus Fighter and Medley performance fabrics rated 100,000 to 130,000 double rubs. COM is accepted (minimums may apply), and we will provide the yardage.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
