The Niro Chair is a plush, sculptural dining chair with a curved, button-tufted shell that wraps the sitter from the shoulders down. The upholstered back flows gently into the seat, and the whole form floats on four slender tapered solid wood legs, giving it a mid-century lounge feel in a dining-height chair.
At 24" wide with a generous 24" x 17" seat, the Niro invites guests to linger, which makes it a favorite for steakhouses, lobby lounges and hotel restaurants. It can be upholstered in leather, faux leather, fabric or COM and paired with a range of solid wood finishes. The Niro appears in the project photos on this page at The Henry in Dallas, and it coordinates with the Niro Stool for bar and counter seating.
The solid wood frame uses mortise-and-tenon joinery with very few bolted connections, so it stays tight through years of service and develops the patina of heirloom furniture over time. The Niro is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled and carries our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each chair comes standard with heavy-duty nail-on nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.
Because the Niro is a wide chair, plan about 26–28" per seat at tables. Our restaurant seating layout guide covers spacing in more detail.
Wood (Wood Option B): North American ash, European beech, black painted ash (open pore), beechwood with walnut stain, ashwood with light walnut stain, ashwood with dark walnut stain, American white oak and American walnut.
Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, including distressed and richly colored hides.
Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): a broad selection of standard and deluxe faux leathers, including vintage, glazed and pebbled finishes.
Fabric (Fabric Option A): a wide range of commercial fabrics and tweeds, many rated from 72,000 to 130,000 double rubs.
COM is accepted (minimums may apply), and we will provide the yardage.
For commercial seating we recommend fabrics rated 75,000–100,000 double rubs. See our upholstery double rubs guide for more.
