The Salem Chair with Upholstered Seat Pad is a solid wood spindle-back chair that updates a familiar farmhouse form. A row of slim vertical spindles rises to a curved crest rail that wraps gently around the sitter, and the straight wood legs are tied together underneath by a metal "X" stretcher, a modern detail that sets the Salem apart from a traditional Windsor-style chair.
The stretcher comes in powder coat or brushed brass, so you can keep the look understated or add a touch of warm metal. An upholstered seat pad adds comfort for longer meals and lets you bring in leather, faux leather or fabric. Offered across our wood finishes, from American white oak to walnut and black painted ash, the Salem fits easily into bistros, hotel restaurants and private dining rooms.
The Salem is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment.
With a 23" width, plan about 24–26" per seat at tables. Our restaurant seating layout guide covers aisles and spacing, and the wood restaurant chairs guide compares species and finishes.
