The Bensen Chair is a low-back solid wood dining side chair with a quietly sculptural silhouette. Its rear legs rise and sweep forward into a single curved top rail that wraps the sitter's back, leaving the space beneath it open and keeping the chair visually light at the table. The legs taper cleanly to the floor and are tied together with slim stretchers, and the frame sits over a generously padded upholstered seat.
Built from solid wood and offered in our American walnut, white oak, ash and European beech finishes, the Bensen reads as warm and Scandinavian in spirit, and it suits lodge-style grills as easily as bright coastal dining rooms. Upholster the seat in leather, faux leather or fabric. It is part of a coordinating family that includes the Bensen Chair with Cord Seat and the Bensen Stool for bar and counter seating.
The Bensen is made with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections, so the frame stays tight through years of daily service. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. Every chair ships fully assembled from the factory and is backed by a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Like all of our wood seating, it is made to break in over time and develop the patina of heirloom furniture.
Plan on about 24" per seat along tables and banquettes. Our restaurant seating layout guide walks through aisle widths and table spacing.
