Foundation Stool

The Foundation Stool is a backless bar and counter stool with a timeless, tavern-style profile. A thick, round upholstered seat cushion sits on a slender welded steel base with four straight legs, a circular footring and crossed lower stretchers that add strength and a touch of detail. In a cognac leather over a dark frame, it has the warm, broken-in look of a classic steakhouse or neighborhood bar.

Because it has no back, the Foundation tucks fully under the bar top and keeps long counters looking clean and open. The padded round seat is comfortable for guests who move around, and the footring gives a natural place to rest. It comes in bar and counter heights and is part of our Steakhouse Collection.

Built for commercial use

The steel frame is welded, not bolted, for a solid, rattle-free stool that stands up to busy bar service. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and the foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. Every stool ships fully assembled from the factory and is backed by our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment.

Finishes and upholstery

Metal (Metal Option A): a wide palette of Color Finish Series powder coats, Metal Finish Series options such as matte gunmetal and brushed galvanized, and Premium finishes including dark bronze, rust patina, matte red rust, brushed copper and antique brass.

Upholstery: Leather Option B (pebbled black, copper, pebbled lead, pebbled battleship, ash grey and vintage umber brown), Faux Leather Option A (standard, deluxe and vintage faux leathers), Fabric Option B (velvets and high-performance fabrics), or COM (minimums may apply). Send us your COM selection and we will give you the yardage.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample stools are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
