The Marten Chair with Cord Seat takes our mid-century Marten frame and pairs it with a natural woven cord seat. The solid wood frame features the same sculpted top rail, a shaped crest that dips at the center and flares at the ends, carried on rear posts that angle back for a relaxed sit. Tapered legs and slim stretchers keep the chair light, with the hand-woven texture of the seat adding warmth and craft.
The cord seat gives the chair an airy, Scandinavian character that works beautifully in sunlit dining rooms and coastal interiors. Made from the best-quality hardwoods, including American walnut, American white oak, American ash and European beech, it is designed to break in over time and develop the patina of heirloom furniture. Specify it on its own or mix it with the upholstered Marten Chair for variety within one dining room.
The Marten is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections, tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards. It ships fully assembled from the factory and is covered by our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish warranty from shipment.
Plan about 24" per seat at dining tables. Our restaurant seating layout guide covers table sizes and aisle clearances.
