Marten Chair

The Marten Chair is a solid wood dining side chair with an upholstered seat and a distinctly mid-century profile. Its signature is the sculpted top rail: a shaped, curved crest that dips at the center and flares at the ends, held on rear posts that sweep back for a relaxed lean. Tapered legs and slim stretchers keep the frame light and Scandinavian in feel.

The upholstered seat brings comfort and a place for color, from a bold yellow fabric like the one shown to quiet leathers and faux leathers. Built from the best-quality hardwoods, including American walnut, American white oak, American ash and European beech, the Marten is made to break in over time and develop the patina of heirloom furniture. Built for commercial use

The Marten is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections, tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards. Foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and is covered by our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option B): American walnut, American white oak, North American ash, European beech, black painted ash (open pore), beechwood with walnut stain, and ashwood with light or dark walnut stain.

Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, including distressed finishes.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): standard and deluxe faux leathers in a broad palette of neutrals, blues, greens and warm tones.

Fabric (Fabric Option A): a large selection of commercial fabrics and tweeds, many rated 72,000 to 130,000 double rubs.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
