Miller Chair with Upholstered Seat

The Miller Chair with Upholstered Seat splits the difference between the all-wood and fully upholstered Miller. It keeps the curved wood veneer back that gives the mid-century school chair its warmth, then adds a padded upholstered seat for extra comfort through a long meal. The slim powder-coated steel frame, with its tapered and outward-flared rear legs, keeps the profile light and graphic.

The mix of materials is the appeal: a walnut back over a black faux leather seat on a dark frame feels tailored and a little industrial, while oak and a colored fabric seat feel relaxed and bright. The chair works anywhere the wood-seat Miller does, with a softer sit, and it coordinates with the full Miller family of arm chairs and bar and counter stools.

Built for commercial use

The frame is welded steel rather than bolted, so it holds up to daily restaurant use. The chair is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory. The frame carries a 3-year structural warranty, and finish and upholstery are covered for 1 year from shipment. Each chair comes standard with heavy-duty nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.

Finishes and upholstery

Metal (Metal Finish A): our Color Finish Series in matte or gloss colors, Metal Finish Series options such as matte gunmetal and brushed galvanized, and Premium Finishes including dark bronze, rust patina, brushed copper, antique brass and matte red rust. Custom powder coat colors are also available.

Wood veneer back (Wood Option C): white oak, walnut, red oak, oak, black oak, antiqued willow, antiqued rubber and antiqued maple.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option A): standard and deluxe faux leathers in neutrals, browns, blues and greens, including vintage and pebbled textures.

Leather (Leather Option B): pebbled black, copper, pebbled lead, pebbled battleship, ash grey and vintage umber brown.

Fabric (Fabric Option B): velvets in sand, rust, starlight blue, teal, fern green, royalty blue, black and goldenrod, plus Fighter (130,000 double rubs) and Medley (100,000 double rubs) performance fabrics.

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request.
