Edgar Upholstered Side Chair

The Edgar Upholstered Side Chair takes the Scandinavian silhouette of the Edgar family and softens it with an upholstered seat and back. The wide, curved back wraps gently around the sitter and floats above the seat on two slim rear posts, while round tapered legs and stretchers keep the solid wood base light and open. It is a comfortable, quietly elegant dining chair that looks just as good in a tweed or fabric as it does in leather.

The seat and back are available fully wrapped or as pads set into the frame, in leather, faux leather, fabric or COM. The frame is offered in American walnut, American white oak, ash, beech and several stains. It coordinates with the Edgar arm chairs and the wood-seat Edgar models, and it is part of our Alpine Lodge and Casino and Gaming collections.

Built for commercial use

Like almost all of our wood seating, the Edgar is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. The chair ships fully assembled from the factory and is covered by our 3-year frame structural warranty and 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option B): North American ash, European beech, black painted ash (open pore), beechwood with walnut stain, ashwood with light or dark walnut stain, American white oak and American walnut.

Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, including distressed premium hides in rich browns, greens and reds.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): standard and deluxe faux leathers, from classic black, white and tan to vintage, pebbled and glazed finishes.

Fabric (Fabric Option A): a broad palette of standard and performance fabrics, including tweeds and textured weaves, many rated from 72,000 to 130,000 double rubs. COM is accepted (minimums may apply).

For commercial use we recommend specifying upholstery rated 75,000–100,000 double rubs. COM and COL are accepted, and we will provide the yardage for your material. Our upholstery double rubs guide explains what to look for.

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
