Montana Chair

The Montana Chair is a sturdy, craft-forward dining chair built around a solid wood frame and natural leather. Thick saddle-style leather forms both the seat and the back panel, wrapping around the frame rails, while low stretchers and square posts give the chair a grounded, workshop-made feel. It is the kind of chair that looks better each year as the leather softens and darkens with use.

The wide 22" x 15.5" seat and upright back make it comfortable for long dinners, and its honest, rustic character suits lodges, steakhouses and wine-country restaurants. Natural vegetable-tanned leather on a light wood frame is warm and casual, while black or mahogany leather on a darker wood reads more formal.

Built for commercial use

The Montana is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery with very few bolted connections, like almost all of our wood chairs. It is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its upholstery meets CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory. The frame carries a 3-year structural warranty, and finish and upholstery are covered for 1 year from shipment.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option A): teak (unfinished or oiled), oak, European beech, American walnut, and ash in natural, antiqued, medium brown, chestnut brown and brushed antique cherry finishes.

Leather (Leather Option E): black, honey brown, mahogany brown and natural vegetable-tanned leather.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
