Barber Chair with Wood Base

The Barber Chair with Wood Base pairs a sculpted upholstered shell with solid wood legs for a warmer, more traditional take on the Barber design. The seat and back form one rounded, enveloping shape with an open cutout between them, a mid-century detail that keeps the chair from feeling heavy.

Gently splayed wood legs, connected by stretchers, give the chair a sturdy, crafted base. Choose a light oak or ash with a bright fabric for a coastal room, or walnut with leather for a classic steakhouse. It coordinates with the Barber Chair with Metal Base and the Barber Stool with Wood Base.

Built for commercial use

The wood base is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections. The chair is tested to 400 lbs and tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and the foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Like all our wood seating, it is made to break in over time and develop the patina of heirloom furniture. Each chair comes standard with heavy-duty nail-on nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option B): North American ash, European beech, black painted ash (open pore), beechwood with walnut stain, ashwood with light walnut stain, ashwood with dark walnut stain, American white oak and American walnut.

Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, from classic neutrals to distressed and saturated tones.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): standard and deluxe faux leathers in a broad palette of neutrals, browns, greens and blues.

Fabric (Fabric Option A): a large selection of commercial fabrics and tweeds, many rated from 72,000 to 130,000 double rubs.

COM/COL: customer's own material or leather is accepted (minimums may apply), and we will provide the yardage.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
