Thorsen Chair

The Thorsen Chair is a Scandinavian-inspired solid wood side chair with a timeless, crafted look. A wide, gently curved back rail spans the rear posts, framing an open back that feels light and inviting, while a sturdy wood frame with side and front stretchers supports an upholstered seat. Clean, slightly tapered legs complete a simple form that never goes out of style.

The padded seat adds comfort and a place to introduce color or texture through leather, faux leather or fabric, while the wood frame can be finished in walnut, white oak, ash or beech tones. Built for commercial use

The Thorsen's solid wood frame is built with mortise-and-tenon joinery and very few bolted connections. It is tested to 400 lbs, tested internally to meet ANSI/BIFMA standards, and its foam and upholstery meet CAL TB 117-2013. It ships fully assembled from the factory and carries a 3-year frame structural warranty and a 1-year finish and upholstery warranty from shipment. Each chair comes standard with heavy-duty nail-on nylon glides, suitable for most commercial floor types, including hardwood, tile, stone, concrete and carpet.

Finishes and upholstery

Wood (Wood Option B): North American ash, European beech, black painted ash (open pore), beechwood with walnut stain, ashwood with light or dark walnut stain, American white oak and American walnut.

Leather (Leather Option A): a wide range of standard, deluxe and premium leathers, including rich distressed hides.

Faux leather (Faux Leather Option B): an extensive palette of standard and deluxe faux leathers in neutrals, earth tones, blues and greens.

Fabric (Fabric Option A): a broad selection of wovens, tweeds and performance textiles, many rated 72,000 to 130,000 double rubs.

COM: Customer's own material is accepted (minimums apply), and we will provide the yardage.

Lead times and ordering

Standard production is 14–20 weeks, and most orders can be rushed to 8–10 weeks. Minimum order is typically 4 pieces, and smaller orders are considered on request. Sample chairs are available for sit tests through our sample loan program.
